Nightly Gratitude Tradition

gratitude tradition, nighttime traditions, parenting, gratitude

My daughter and I have begun a nightly gratitude tradition that has quickly become the highlight of my day. After all bedtime preparations, we get in her bed and cuddle and take turns talking about what we are grateful for. Her contributions range from, "I'm grateful for having fun on the playground," to "I'm grateful that I learned to say bonjour." After we finish, we pray for God to protect us and our loved ones and to keep everyone safe.

While this ritual is simple and takes about five minutes, it reminds me that there is truly so much beauty in the world if we only take a moment to pay attention.
